Caring for Caregivers Award Presented to RN Hospice Evaluator
Marcia Chiappone of North Chili, an RN Hospice Evaluator with Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester and Monroe County, Inc. (VNS), was recently honored with the Caring for Caregivers Award from Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Homes. She was nominated by a former patient’s family member who described her as “very helpful, caring, knowledgeable, and very responsive to all our needs.” The family member went on to write, “She treated my wife with love and respect. We were all very happy to have her as my wife’s nurse. We all loved her.”
With the framed award, Chiappone received a gift certificate for dinner for two and a glass memento for her desk.
Scott Meeson, partner at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Homes, said that their Caring for Caregivers program honors caregivers who excel in their profession. It recognizes dedicated workers for their selfless devotion and generosity. Award recipients may be medical or nursing professionals, clergy members, healthcare administrators or anyone else who is seen as an important caregiver in the community, and can be nominated through the funeral homes’ website, www.MeesonFamily.com. The Caring for Caregivers award is presented each month, and Chiappone was the February 2013 recipient.
