On Wheels Meals On Wheels turns 50!
Hot meals, warm smiles, independence and peace of mind. Meals On Wheels delivers this and more to the homebound, elderly, or ill through a dedicated volunteer force, made possible by generous donors, funders, and community support. That's the basis for this evolving program established by Visiting Nurse Service. Meals On Wheels has nourished the health, independence and spirit of those in need since 1958. Now celebrating 50 years of service, it continues to extend its reach with innovative efforts and gratifying results.
Meals On Wheels
is For You.
The Meals On Wheels program provides nutritious meals to homebound residents
of our community. Meals On Wheels will:
- Deliver the number of meals you request each day to your home.
- Help improve your health by making sure you are receiving good, nutritious
meals.
- Check in on you each day, giving peace of mind to family members
who can't always be there.
- Bring meals that meet your special medical needs.
Am I Eligible?
Requests for Meals On Wheels services can be made by anyone - family,
friends, physicians, health care agencies or recipients themselves. There
are no income or asset tests used to determine eligibility. To be eligible
for Meals On Wheels, individuals must be:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Incapacitated due to accident, illness or frailty.
- Living alone or with someone who is unable to prepare meals and/or
is absent during the day.
- Receive meals a minimum of three day per week.
Payment
You may pay by cash, check or money order, VISA or MasterCard.
At the beginning of each month, bills are mailed to you for services you
received the month prior. Although private insurance and Medicare do not cover
the cost of meals, most meals can be subsidized.

Help us end senior hunger by 2020. Visiting Nurse Service Meals On Wheels is a member of the
Meals on Wheels Association of America, MOWAA. We need your support as we participate in MOWAA’s ‘Pledge’ campaign.
MOWAA’s March For Meals grant awards to local Meals on Wheels programs will be based on the number of pledges each
program receives. In this case a ‘Pledge’ is simply a signature showing support. To learn more, go to

We know that comfort begins by staying in familiar surroundings
and being cared for by caregivers who have become like family.
At Meals On Wheels, our participants always come first.
We strive to improve health and independence to all - regardless of their
ability to pay.
Frequently, in our program, participants do have the ability
to pay for service. Contributions and donations in memory of loved ones
will assist us in providing a hot, nutritious meal to everyone, especially
those who cannot pay.

You can help continue this tradition of health and independence
for all who need it through the Visiting Nurse Foundation, tax exempt,
and not-for-profit corporation.
