Volunteer Opportunities with VNS

By volunteering just an hour or two of your time, you can make a difference in the lives of those who need you. Here are some of the opportunities available:
Meals on Wheels Driver/Server
Two volunteers are scheduled to deliver each route. One volunteer drives using their own car, and the other takes the meals to the recipients' doors. Volunteers can deliver routes without a partner if they prefer. Routes go out mid-day, take about an hour to deliver, and are available throughout Rochester and Monroe County. You can volunteer weekly, monthly, or seasonally…whatever suits your schedule. The rewards are significant. For information call Meals On Wheels at 787-8326 or send email to mow@vnsnet.com . 		Hospice
Our Hospice volunteer program gives emotional support and practical assistance to patients and families faced with a terminal illness. For information call 787-2233, ext. 8247 or send e-mail to hospice@vnsnet.com .
Meals on Wheels Adopt-a-Route
This is especially ideal for a group who would like to share a weekly lunchtime commitment by adopting a Meals On Wheels route. Many local businesses, community agencies, and church groups are involved in our Adopt-a-Route program. With a team of 10 or more members, each individual is scheduled to deliver about once a month, or less frequently, depending on how large the group is. The minimal time commitment, the satisfaction of helping others, and the increased feeling of team spirit among the group members makes this a winning volunteer opportunity! Volunteers assist agency departments with a variety of clerical duties, special projects and events (such as flu shot clinics). For information call 787-2233, ext. 8425.
Seasonal Substitute
This is a chance to fill in for regular volunteers who may be away for an extended period of time.
